Olive E. (Terry) Ray, 81, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Tuesday, May 7, 2013, at home surrounded by her family. She was predeceased by her husband of almost 41 years, Chester N. Ray, her father and mother Delbert Vine Terry, Sr. and Ruth Romans Terry; brothers Rev. Delbert V. Terry Jr. and Rev. Keith E. Terry and grandson Andrew Robert Ray. She is survived by her brother Stephen E. Terry, Vestal, sister Barbara R. Terry, Vestal, her children: Sharon Martinos, Brunswick, GA, Duane (Elsie) Ray, Lansing, NY, Terry (Martha) Ray, Binghamton, Marie (David) Scarinzi, Binghamton, sisters in law Susan Terry, Des Moines, IA, Jeanette Terry, Sanborn, NY, her grandchildren: Nathan (Lauren Warholic) Scarinzi, Corina (fiancée Ethan Paoletti) Scarinzi, Stefan, Aaron and Andrew Scarinzi, Tim Ray, Stephanie (Jeff Yelvington) Hayes, Brad Hartman (fiancée Stacey LeRoy), Clifford (Nicole) Hartman, Duane (Terry Ann) Ray, Susie (Dan) Scarinzi; great grandchildren: Brandan and Molli Scarinzi, Isaac and Cassiah Ray, Elizabeth (Kyle) Lelik, Joshua, Katherine and David Hayes, Katelyn and Sara Hartman, Brandon Wood, Cole Hartman; great great grandchildren: Gracie, Alex and soon to be born Sophia Lelik, many special friends including Bonnie Bidwell, Mae McLeod, Russell and Ruth Dewing, numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family. The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to Lourdes Hospital PCU staff (especially Allison, Whitney, Sarah, Annie, Lisa, Sue and Wendi) and Lourdes Hospice Staff (especially Pam and Sarah P). Olive was the Valedictorian of the 1950 graduating class of Vestal Central High School and a graduate of Eastern Bible Institute in 1953. As a young woman, Olive worked as bookkeeper/office secretary for the New York District Assemblies of God in Syracuse, NY and later as a bookkeeper for J. Leo Johnson Auto Sales in Montpelier, VT. While in Vermont she assisted her brother Keith in church planting. Olive was an excellent cook, homemaker, wife and mother. Additionally, she worked outside the home as the bookkeeper at First Assembly of God Church in Binghamton for over 20 years. Some of Olive's greatest joys in this life were her grandchildren and teaching the Toddler 3's Sunday School Class at her church. Funeral services will be held at the First Assembly of God Church, 255 Washington St., Binghamton on Saturday, May 11 at 12 noon, preceded by calling hours from 11 am until the time of service. The family will receive friends at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main St., Johnson City on Friday, May 10th from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Teen Bible Quiz / Junior Bible Quiz Ministries at First Assembly God Church, Binghamton or WPEL Christian Radio, Box 248, Montrose, PA. 18801
