Martha S. Halecky

Martha S. Halecky, 93, of Endicott, passed away Monday, June 24, 2013 at Absolut Care of Endicott. She was predeceased by her husband, John, in 1992; her brother and sister-in-law, William and Alice Spryn; her sister, Helen O'Hara; a dear friend, Rose George. She was born in Pleasant Mount, PA in 1919, married her husband, John, in 1940 and moved to Binghamton to start their family and eventually settled in Endicott in 1952. She worked briefly for Endicott Johnson Corp. and a naval supply company during WWII. She later worked for IBM and retired after 19 years of service. She was a member of St. Mary's Orthodox Church, Endicott, and an avid bowler in her younger years. She is survived by three children, Carol M. Novobilski of Indiana, William Halecky of Binghamton, Joseph Halecky of Endicott; three grandchildren, Theresa (Steve) Hyder of Indiana, Stacia (Brian) Cook of North Carolina, Matthew (Tricia) Novobilski of California; six great-grandchildren, Jake, Vinny and Eric Hyder, Aiden and AJ Novobilski, Rachel Cook; her brother-in-law, Joseph O'Hara of Arizona; a special niece, JoAnne O'Hara of Pennsylvania.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, 9:30 a.m. from the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home, Inc., 1905 Watson Blvd., Endicott, and at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Orthodox Church. Burial will follow in St. Michael's Cemetery, Binghamton. The family will receive friends at the Pucedo Funeral Home on Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. The Rev. Michael Kleban will hold Parastas (prayer service) Wednesday evening, 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in her memory may be made to either St. Mary's Orthodox Church, 1907 Jenkins St., Endicott, NY 13760 or The United Way of Broome County, P.O. Box 550, Binghamton, NY 13902.
