In 1951, he and his young family moved to South Montrose where he began work at Bendix Corporation. While there, Gordon established many long-lasting friendships. He and Kathryn retired in 1985 and for many years enjoyed traveling around the U.S. Gordon continued his life as a farmer by using his tractor to plow neighborhood gardens in the summer and to remove the snow from driveways in the winter. He was very handy and could seemingly fix anything. Gordon created many smiles with his quick, dry wit and had an endless supply of poems that he would share when least expected.

Gordon's family will receive friends and family from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, September 18, 2013 at the Daniel K. Regan Funeral Home, Montrose, PA. A Memorial Service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the South Montrose Community Church with Rev. Jane Pykus officiating. Interment will be in the South Montrose Cemetery.
