Ethelyn B. Koeb, of Montrose, PA, passed away at the Endless Mountains Health Systems on Saturday, November 9, 2013. She was born in Dimock Twp., PA on August 14, 1916 to the late Leslie W. and Caroline E. (Perkins) Barnes. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, Ralph W. Koeb; 2 sisters, Frances Edwards and Dorothy Potrzuski; brother, William Barnes; half-sister, Ruth Brant; and special cousin, Carrie Williams. Surviving are her 3 daughters and sons-in-law, Carole and Richard Rose, Elk Lake, PA, Christine and Richard Lathrop, Elk Lake, PA, Kathy and Thomas Pascoe, Montrose, PA; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 7 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Ethelyn was a former member of the Montrose United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school; she was later a member of the Elk Lake Community Church. She and her husband were long associates of the grange and she was a 4H leader. When Ethelyn was a child she went to school in the kid bus, which was a horse drawn wagon, a sleigh in winter, that was driven by her father. She graduated from the Dimock High School, Class of 1934. Most of her life, Ethelyn was a homemaker, however she did work at Bendix, Banner Slipper company, the South Montrose hangar factory, and the Montrose Dept. Store. Ethelyn was a very adaptable person. She enjoyed hunting and fishing, she taught her daughters how to sew and garden, and she made "ugly quilts" and knitted scarves for the homeless at her church. She also served as a volunteer at the Lawton senior center.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, November 14, 2013 at the Elk Lake Community Church with Rev. Charles Bishop and Rev. Richard Spering officiating. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Dimock Cemetery, Dimock, PA. Donations in Ethelyn's memory can be made to the EMHS Building Fund, 25 Grow Ave., Montrose, PA 18801.
