Ronald W. “Buzz” Bjorkstrom, 67 of Harpursville and formerly of Brooklyn, retired Detective with NYPD passed away on Wed. Nov. 11, 2009 after a battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife, Ellen (Alwill) Bjorkstrom, sister, Marion Juliussen, sister& brother-in-law, Helen & Kaare Bernhardsen, all of Harpursville, sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Margaret & Kenny Smith, Brooklyn and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was a member of the NYPD Marine Corp. League, Fraternal Order of Police 120 Lodge and Verrazano 10/13 both of Staten Island.

At his request, his body was donated to SUNY Upstate Medical University for research. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Lourdes Hospice 4102 Vestal Rd. Vestal, NY 13850.
