Leonard Cole, 86, of Binghamton passed away Saturday, July 24th, at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Florence and Vernon Cole; sisters, Theo Christensen and Jean Hoy; brother, Judson Cole; son-in-law, Daniel Furrow. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Janice Cole; daughters, Sheila Furrow, Babette Cole; son, Louis Cole (Christopher Bryant); grandson, David Furrow; also several nieces and nephews.

Leonard served in the Marine Corps during WWII in the South Pacific, for which he received a Silver Star and Purple Heart, amongst other commendations. He worked as a mailman for the US Postal Service until retirement. Leonard was an avid walker, gardener, woodworker and fisherman. He loved nature and animals.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 27th, at The Thomas J. Shea Funeral Home, Inc., 137 Robinson Street, Binghamton. Burial will be in Chenango Valley Cemetery. Friends may call at the Shea Funeral Home Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
