Vestal Football Preview

By Brendan O'Reilly

The schedule has a whole new look this season at Vestal.

That's because the Bears have moved down to Class "A" because of new enrollment figures.

That leaves only four teams in Class AA and adds a seventh team into the already deep Division 2.

"It's a new experience," says head coach John Anderson. " We don't know a lot about these teams that we're going to be playing. It's been awhile since we've played a few of them so it's going to be a learning experience as we go."

"We haven't been in Class A for 11 years now," says senior Mike DeGroat. "It's not really a personal choice. If we wanted to, we'd be playing the big boys but they're dropping us down because we don't have the enrollment but we're just going to make the best of it and play the best football wherever we are no matter what class we're in."

Vestal opens the season Friday, September 5th at home against Elmira Southside.
