In baseball there is a feeling of being "due."
Go 0 for your last 10. You're due to get a hit.
And so it was after winning the regular season titles in back to back seasons, the BU baseball team was "due" to finally get to host.
And that begins this weekend.
Today the Bearcats were working out on their home field.
The America East conference tournament will be held at Union-Endicott high school, because that facility has lights.
And finally after 3 years, the teams hard work in the regular season pays off with a true advantage in the playoffs.
Binghamton native Greg Lane says, " Guys are excited it's expected to be a good turnout for the home crowd myself being a hometown player and a couple of the other guys too. We are real excited because the last couple years we were on the road and now we finally get to stay here in front of friends and family and the community we know will support us.
Vestal grad Corey Taylor adds, "It's honestly a dream come true I never thought I'd have this opportunity. To play college baseball my hometown to let alone be playing for the conference championship back home. It's a big opportunity for everybody and hopefully we get to sleep in our own beds will have a lot rest and we're looking forward to a big week."
Binghamton has advanced to the title game in back-to-back seasons, only to lose both times in heartbreaking fashion.
So they're "due" to win a trip to the NCAA's this year.
Murphy Smith will get the game one start Thursday at 8:00 against Vermont, the same team that took 3 of 4 from them last weekend.
