" Math is my favorite subject. I like to deal with numbers."
On the lacrosse field that's just what Jesse Wood puts up numbers. Big numbers.
Coach Travis Eckler says, " He's our leading goal scorer. He is the most assists on the team. He's one of the fastest kids on the team and it plays very aggressive. He's always going to the goal and getting hit pretty hard."
Jesse says, " My teammates are a great reason for my success and my coaches are great at preparing a so I have to give a lot of my success to them."
That love of math helps them accumulate numbers on the field, he's the leading scorer in section 4. His math background also helps them analyze what defenses do to try and stop it.
" If we can figure out something how to break down the defense or something during timeouts he comes in and seasoning on the field that we can change or little mismatches here and there that will actually help us out."
With his work study program the hardest numbers to deal with are the ones on the clock face there simply aren't enough hours in the day to do everything.
" It's a lot of work I have to balance my work life my school life and my athletic life. I have a lot of trouble with studying. I have to do a lot of work in little cross I am Late. As you can see I was late today. I have to get to practice late and stuff."
He obviously makes it up on 97 average and one of the top lacrosse players in section 4. That's why Jesse Wood is this week's academic All-Star.
