Academic All Star - Amy Farro

She's the only one on the team that spends almost 10 minutes just putting her gear on.
That's because Amy Farro is Maine-Endwell's goalie and she wouldn't have it any other way.
"The team counts on me and that they trust me to really just like tend the goal and pretty much make sure that the other team doesn't get the ball in."
"I think the thing that is so special about her is that she's such a team player and having her as that last line of defense always helps you out because she's going to do anything she can do."
But in lots of games, she doesn't have to do much.
The Spartans are pretty good.
And that's good for Amy, because she's got a lot of other things on her mind to worry about, like a loaded class schedule and those stressful college applications.
"It takes a lot of focus to stay in the game and make sure that if they do come down to your end you have to make sure that the ball's not going to go in because that looks really bad on your part."
Amy hasn't looked bad very much in her three seasons as the starting goalie.
And while field hockey is a big part of her life, it's far from her only passion thanks to summers spent on Cayuga Lake.
"I actually really like to kneeboard, like, on the water, that's like one of my favorite things to do and just do all the little tricks. My uncle's really good. He can do like all the 360s and stuff so I always try to be like him but I usually end up falling."
So maybe she still has some work to do on the water, but on the field and in the classroom, she's at the top of her class.
That's why Amy Farro is this week's Academic All Star.
