TOWN OF FENTON - A few defending champs took some of the drama out of their races at Chenango Valley State Park.
On the girl's side Ithaca's Mary Carroll dominated the "AA" race for the second straight year, as did Susquehanna Valley's Sydney Williams, who won the class "A" race for the 4th straight year.
"Going into this I really love this time of the season, so I was pretty pumped to have a 4th shot at a title and I'm really happy with how I did today," says Williams.
It was another repeat winner in class "B" as Johnson City's Lauren Mullins added another sectional title to go with her her two STAC crowns.
"It's not my favorite thing to do," says Mullins. "I really don't like to lead from the start but today I just wanted to keep the fastest time I could and that's just what I did."
The other winners were Newark Valley's Jenna Cupp in Class "C" and Edison's Sarah Palmer in Class "D".
On the boys side, Chenango Valley senior Max Straneva won a state title last year, and today he made it back to back sectional titles.
"Yeah I was happy with my performance today," says Straneva. "Time wasn't really an issue for me. I was just going to qualify again and get back to states, so, it went just as I thought it would."
In "AA" Ithaca's Andris Goncarovs won his second straight title.
The meet's big surprise was Vestal's Cal Michaels in Class "A".
In Class "B" it was Windsor's Mike Buchanon, and Class "D" went to the only runner on the Bainbridge-Guilford team, Chris Burnett.
