Vestal was held without a field goal in the first quarter and was unable to overcome a big half-time deficit, as Mt. Vernon advanced in the first round of the "AA" boy's basketball tournament.
The Golden Bears again played without 6-foot-9 center Josh Bailey and were undone by division 1 bound guard Jabarie Hinds, who scored a game-high 25 points.
