Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Union-Endicott softball coach Jim Testa says his senior leadoff hitter has some ninja-like qualities.

"She's like the silent assassin."

But her bat does a lousy job of staying quiet.

"In practice, I try to be more quiet and just focus on what's going on," Pasquale said.

Quiet focus has paid off for U-E's Danielle Pasquale. The senior not only is a key cog for the Tigers on the diamond, but boasts a 92 average in the classroom.

"I have to work for every grade I get," said Pasquale. "I can't just go into a test and not study. I study a lot."

"I know that's somebody that, when I see her every day, she's going to try to do her best at practice or a game," said Testa. "I always know she's always trying to get better, and I think that's her best attribute."

"Softball has definitely made me a better person, how my motivation is," Pasquale added. "It made me have motivation to work hard."

Danielle's motivation has poured over into the next stage of her life. She will work toward a degree in physical therapy at Ithaca College. Funny enough, softball and cheer leading gave her a few painful pushes in that direction.

"A girl came down...I threw her up, and she was coming down and she hit my shoulder and separated it," described Pasquale. "Leading into softball, trying to throw -- that was a big obstacle to overcome there. After all that, I decided physical therapy is what I want to go into."

Sounds like she's got it all figured out. Danielle Pasquale: an Academic All-star.
