Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Union-Endicott senior Kelsey Prosinski started playing lacrosse just as a way to stay in shape in the spring, after basketball season has ended. But after working her way through the ranks to the varsity level, she really developed a passion for the game. Now it's her favorite sport to play.
"Just the competitive edge, the concept of it," said Prosinski. "The fast paced game, up and down the field. I enjoy that."
Prosinski is one of the unquestioned leaders of this year's team, and her coach said she'll definitely be an All-Star this season.
"Kelsey brings experience, leadership, loyalty," said Laura Ansbro, Kelsey's coach. "She's one of the most trustworthy student-athletes that I have ever had. And she is a perfect example of everything we look for in a U-E athlete, both on and off the field."
Speaking of off the field, Prosinski is an all-star there as well. She's in the top 20 of the senior class, and has been on honor roll every marking period in high school. Prosinski has been a scholar athlete in cross country, basketball and lacrosse.
When she's not playing a sport, or studying, you can find her working in the prestigious medical pathways program. Great practice for college where she'll enter the 6 year Pharmacy program at Rhode Island.
"It has a lot of math, like I said I like math, and chemistry and I just like how you can help people without directly interacting," she said.
Prosinski wears number two in all sports she plays. Fitting because she's a dual threat, not only on the field, but also in the classroom. That's why she's this week's Academic All-Star.
