B-Mets postponed again; Team excited about all-star selections
Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) For the third straight day the Binghamton Mets were unable to play a full game. After their game Tuesday in Portland was postponed in the third inning and Wednesday's game was washed out, the B-Mets were rained out again Thursday. However, the rain didn't dampen the spirits of the team, especially not those who were named to the Eastern League All-Star team Wednesday. Allan Dykstra, Josh Rodriguez, Cesar Puello, Logan Verrett and Jeff Walters were selected to play in the game on July 10. Binghamton is tied with host New Britain for most players selected from a single team. The player's selected believe the selections say a lot about the team's play so far this season. "It's pretty awesome to be able to be honored with it half way through the season," said Walters, who leads the league in saves. "It just shows all your hard work is really paying off. It's pretty cool to get a couple of days to really get recognition for it." "It just is consistent, and is also a reflection of how our team has been playing," said Dykstra. "We've been playing great, and it's always easier to say you have great numbers and have a great offensive year when your team is, I think we're 16 games above .500. It's really helpful when the rest of your team is playing well." The B-Mets and Trenton will make up Thursday's game as part of a doubleheader on July 26.
