The Binghamton Senators earned their second straight home win tonight as they secured a 5-2 victory over the Adirondack Phantoms. Shots on goal favored Binghamton, 39-35.
The Phantoms struck first at 1:24 into the opening period on a goal by forward Sean Couturier with assists from Harry Zolnierczyk and Brandon Manning. Binghamton answered back at 7:30 as forward Derek Grant tied the score at one with help from David Dziurzynski and Andre Benoit. Just 27 seconds later, Tyler Eckford gave the B-Sens their first lead in the game, 2-1. Corey Cowick and Jakob Silfverberg assisted.
Adirondack started out the second period by evening the score at two on a goal by Ben Holstrom with assists from Brayden Schenn and Eric Wellwood at 9:19. Binghamton regained their lead at 10:36 when forward Pat Cannone capitalized on a pass from Cowick. The period’s scoring concluded with forward Mika Zibanejad’s first American Hockey League goal at 11:33. Cole Schneider and Frederik Claesson were credited with the assists.
Mark Stone scored on an empty Phantoms net with just 18.3 seconds left in the game to secure a 5-2 final for the B-Sens. Jean-Gabriel Pageau drew the lone assist.
Ben Bishop earned his first victory of the season for the B-Sens tonight, allowing just two goals on 35 shots. Scott Munroe made 31 saves in net for the Phantoms.
