Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton)

It was one of the most incredible endings to a high school basketball game, possibly ever, which won the Section 1 Class AA Title Sunday. New Rochelle won the title on this last second three quarter court shot to beat Mount Vernon, who had won the title the last six seasons.

New Rochelle now has a date with the Section IV Champions, Binghamton. The Patriots said they had a game plan in place for Mount Vernon, but had to scrap it when New Rochelle hit that shot.

Now, they're focused on a new opponent with new strengths that include a strong inside presence and great guard play, but the Patriots said they're ready.

"I think if we can handle the ball without making mistakes against their press, that's the way they play downstate, we'll have a good game," said Coach Dave Springer.

"It's definitely different out there," said senior guard KJ Rose. "Everybody's stronger, faster and quicker. Better players. Just tell them to work hard every possession. Mostly keep them off the boards, boxing out, going big more often. Just keeping them off the boards mostly."

The Patriots take on New Rochelle tomorrow afternoon at 4 at SUNY Purchase.
