Hartford, CT (WBNG Binghamton) Despite having a confident four-point weekend at home, the B-Sens were struck down by the Whale’s offense as the hometown team stunned Binghamton with a 6-1 loss.
The scoring began just 4:04 into the opening frame after Benn Ferriero gave Connecticut an early 1-0 lead. The Whale would finish the first with one more tally courtesy of Andrew Yogan as he put one behind Marc Cheverie at the 8:17 mark.
The B-Sens would continue to struggle into the second as the Whale maintained control scoring back-to-back goals at 7:17 and 7:50. Forward Christian Thomas earned his 16th of the year while Yogan rallied his second of the night. Connecticut increased their lead as Thomas slapped another in at 14:26, also his second of the night. The B-Sens finally halted the Whale’s offensive run at 16:18 after Mark Stone tapped one into the Connecticut cage to set the scoreboard at 5-1.
Brandon Segal picked up one last tally for the Whale in the third as he increased his team-leading goal total to 20 at the 6:12 mark.
Cheverie got the nod in net for Binghamton losing his fourth game of the season, after stopping 26 of 32 shots. Cameron Talbot took the win for Connecticut, making 26 saves on 27 shots.
The B-Sens see action again Wednesday, March 27 as they travel to Wilkes-Barre to take on the Penguins. Game time is 7:05 p.m.
