Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton freshman forward Nick Madray has been selected as the America East men’s basketball Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Madray made a splash in his first collegiate game with 22 points on 8-of-10 shooting against Loyola. The 6-foot-9 forward then added nine points and four rebounds in 23 minutes against Brown. In the two games, Madray shot 65% from the field, including 57% from three-point range, and was a perfect 5-for-5 from the free throw line.

He is averaging a team-high 15.5 points.

Dating back to last season, BU has now claimed four of the last six weekly rookie honors, thanks to Jordan Reed, who set the program record with six weekly honors during 2012-13.

The Bearcats (0-2) begin their two-games-in-four-days stretch with an away contest Wednesday at Cornell.
