Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Mike Hoffman departed for Ottawa earlier this week, leaving Binghamton without its leading scorer. This season Hoffman had 11 goals and 15 assists in 21 games.

Those numbers include a goal and an assist on Saturday night against St. Johns, when it seemed like he was almost always around the puck.

Coach Luke Richardson believes he has the physical abilities to make an impact at the next level.

"He's involved in the game, he's dangerous, he makes other teams be really aware of him and that makes other players have a little bit more room on the ice," said Richardson. "He doesn't just create things himself, but he creates space for other players on his team. Saturday night was a really dynamic game and I thought you really saw the speed, and that's not at this level, that's at the NHL level, that's world class speed."

Hoffman now with a chance to show off that speed at the NHL level. In a couple of previous short stints with Ottawa, Hoffman has yet to record a point.
