Syracuse, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Chenango Forks stopped a Rye Neck two-point conversion with four minutes left, and the Blue Devils held on late to capture the New York state championship in Class C.
After Isaiah Zimmer scored his third touchdown of the game with under eight minutes remaining to put Forks up 28-21, Rye Neck answered with a touchdown on fourth down.
However, the Blue Devils stopped the ensuring two-point conversion to hold onto their one-point lead.
Rye Neck had one last gasp with 15 seconds remaining, but Forks forced a turnover on downs. Seconds later, the Blue Devils were dancing.
Andrew Ziegenfus caught the one Forks touchdown Zimmer didn't score -- a second quarter grab that put Forks up 14-7.
It's the Blue Devils first state title since 2004. That's also the last year Section IV had two state football champions in the same season.
