Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The winner of this year's Dick's Sporting Goods Open will not only be a part of En-Joie history, but he'll be a part of Champions Tour history as well.

This week will mark the 1,000th winner on the Champions Tour. The man that won the 500th tournament will be in the running for the second big landmark as well.

Hale Irwin won the 1997 Burnet Senior Classic to take home the Champions Tour's 500th title, and he said maybe he'll be lucky enough to be crowned number 1,000 as well.

"You never know in this game. It never fails to amaze me how this game sort of ebbs and flows and changes and yet at the same time it's still the same," said Irwin. "It's a wonderful game that we never seem to be on top of, yet at the same time we always come back for more, get beat up and come back for more."

The first winner on tour will also be in attendance this weekend. Don January, who won the first title back in 1980, will be on hand to present the 1,000th winner his trophy.
