Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Famous athletes, entertainers and movie stars all know him by name, but Bruce Machlica got his start here in Vestal.

"Winning the State Title, the STAC Championship that year, it was a very exciting time for us, as well as the quality of instructors, the teachers we had here. Had a lot of great relationships, many of them endured for years," Bruce Machlica said.

Machlica played for the Golden Bears during their state title run in 1975 under Dick Hoover, but its that journey that helped prepare him for the much longer one he's now on.

"Competition is fierce, especially as we represent NFL stars, current or past, Hall-of-Famers in Canton, so on and so forth. It's always wonderful when you can represent folks that you idolized growing up," said Machlica.

He's the President and CEO of a PR and sports and entertainment representation group...where Machlica represents everyone from Super Bowl Champions to Baywatch stars.

And it's a journey that led him to the "Babe".

"Knowing that Mr. Ruth was the very first sports and entertainment mega-star in America. It puts a bit of weight on us, but we're prepared to handle that business," Machlica says.

Just this year Machlica's firm Chatham Communications was selected to manage the business affairs for the Babe Ruth Estate, including developing a Broadway musical based on the life of the "Great Bambino".

"That'll be very exciting because much of that information has never found its way into the history books and it's quite historical in nature," said Machlica.

A client that is almost like the crown jewel of both the sports and entertainment industries, and stands out, even amidst the laundry list of stars Machlica has worked with over the years.

He says he hopes he can serve as inspiration to others in the area.

"Life is what you make it, and every time you make an investment in yourself, the key is to keep that momentum moving forward," Machlica said. "The accumulation of experiences, the good and not so goo, they all matter, because as you forge ahead they prepare you for the very next step."

For this Golden Bear, he hopes, that next step is a smooth one down Broadway.
