Town of Maine, NY (WBNG Binghamton) In front of a crowd of about 1000 spectators, second year Greater Binghamton FC dreams of an NPSL National Championship came to an end this evening as they were defeated 1-0 by FC Lehigh Valley United Sonic.

The Sonic, defending 2012 NPSL National Champions, had been beaten twice this season by GBFC. This third match went in the Sonic favor, however, and now they are on their way to defend their champion title at next weekend’s NPSL National semi-final match.

The first half ended in a scoreless tie with both teams unable to capitalize on some good scoring opportunities. The only goal of the game was scored in the 57th minute by Sonic reserve Lance Dotzman on a shot 12 yards out directly in front of the GBFC goal on a centering pass from Matt Baker.

GBFC finished the season with a 10-2-2 record and the NPSL Keystone Conference title.
