Hornets stung in title game

Troy, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Bishop Kearney used a strong fourth quarter to beat Harpursville 54-44 for the Class C girls basketball championship.

The Lady Kings started strong, running out to a 15-4 lead after the first quarter. The Hornets only points came on four free throws by Miranda Drummond.

The Hornets picked things up in the second quarter, hitting three straight three point shots and held Kearney to 5 points. The Hornets led 21-20 at the half.

The third quarter was a back and forth affair, with Kearny taking a 4 point lead.

In the fourth quarter, Kearney outscored Harpursville en route to the victory.

Miranda Drummond scored 15 points and added 11 rebounds to lead Harpursville. Savannah Murray scored 17 points in her final high school game and Shelby Medovich added 10.

Class C tournament most valuable player Skyler Gausney-Jones scored 23 points to lead the Lady Kings.
