Binghamton, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton Mets starting pitcher Rainy Lara threw to live hitters on Wednesday at NYSEG Stadium for the first time since being placed on the disabled list.

Lara hasn't made a start since May 28th when he left the game with a sprained ankle after a play at the plate.

On Wednesday prior to batting practice, he threw about 60 pitches, and Lopez believes he's getting closer to 100 percent.

" We're just trying to get him ready, keep his arm in shape. The ankle is coming along and I think he'll probably have a session like he did today in the next couple of days and see if we can get him back out there again."

Prior to his session on Wednesday, Lopez said he had also thrown a few times in the bullpen.
