(WBNG Binghamton) There's still 7 months of high school left, but 5 local athletes have decided where they want to go to school and play division1 sports.
From Chenango Forks, Courtney Cook, Kyle Kelly, and Michaela Transue signed on the line Thursday afternoon.
Courtney will be headed to the University of Buffalo for swimming.
Kyle signed to Binghamton University to be a part of their wrestling team, and Michaela is off to Hofstra for softball.
Michaela said, "We've all worked so hard for this and to finally accomplish our goal it's the most amazing feeling in the world."
For Kyle, the choice was simple, Binghamton was close to home. He said, "Binghamton has a great program, they are up and coming. And it's close to home. I'm big on family, I love my family."
Courtney said, ""it's such an accomplishment and its such a great feeling to officially sign to the University of Buffalo and I'm so excited."
Over in Maine-Endwell, Carter Austin and Tanner Cosens signed their division one letters of intent.
Carter to play baseball at Bucknell and Tanner to play lacrosse for Binghamton University.
When asked about why he picked Bucknell, Carter said, "There was a certain point, where was happening pretty quick, and I visited Bucknell a couple of times, and the coaches there seemed really perfect for me, and it seemed to be a good fit. So I'm pretty excited about my decision."
And like Kyle Kelly, staying close to home is important to Tanner Cosens. When asked why he picked Binghamton, he said, "Being able to play for my friends, in Endwell in Binghamton in this area in Broome County. The coaches are great. The school is a fantastic school. I see a program that is on the rise."
