Endwell, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The Maine-Endwell Spartans have very high expectations for themselves this season.

And they include winning another state championship in a new class this year.

The Spartans return several starters from last year's state championship team.

This year, they've also dropped from class A to class B.

And while this team is expecting a lot of great things, it's not because the drop in class.

It's because of all the experience the team has.

"Each person here, we know our jobs. Everybody has their position, has their assignments. We're just going to go out there, do the best we can and things will fall into place after that...will take care of themselves if we do our best," said Adam Shelepak.

"We'll be doing a little better, a little crisp. We're going into another year in our new offense and we went into the first day of practice knowing our assignments and what to do and so coaches are making sure we get it drilled into our head what we're going to do differently and what we're going to do the same," said Nick Sorrenti.

The Spartans will open the season in the same place they ended last year.

They open on Sunday, September 2nd in the Carrier Dome in Syracuse where they'll take on Marcellus.
