Maine-Endwell to open new baseball field

Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Maine-Endwell announced the official opening of the new turf baseball field and stadium for opening day ceremony.

The public is invited to the to the field located on 750 Farm to Market Road, behind Maine-Endwell High School.

The event will start at 4 p.m.

During the ceremony, the stadium scoreboard will be unveiled and the field will be named.

Following those events, Maine-Endwell Class of 1988 graduate Thomas Tull and his wife Alba, benefactors of the stadium renovation project, will kick off the Spartans’ 2014 season by throwing a ceremonial first pitch.

Then Maine-Endwell’s varsity baseball team will then take the field for a short game against Vestal.

Members of the National Baseball Hall of Fame will also be in attendance.

Construction of the new turf stadium, dugouts, press box and bleachers began in October 2013.

The stadium project was possible thanks to a gift from the Tull Family Foundation.

Thomas Tull, who is the Chairman and Chief Executive of Legendary Entertainment, as well as part owner of the Pittsburgh Steelers and board member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, resides in Los Angeles.
