VESTAL (WBNG BINGHAMTON) Norwich hadn't won a boys basketball STAC championship since 1994...until Friday.

The Purple Tornado turned a back and forth affair with Union-Endicott into a blowout in the fourth quarter, topping the Tigers 85-67 to win the STAC championship.

Mike Sutton led the way for Norwich, scoring 23 points.

The game was tied at 46 late in the third quarter before Norwich ripped off a furious rally, outscoring U-E 39-21 from that point forward.

The Tigers went into halftime down 35-28, but pulled off a 9-0 run to begin the second half to jump ahead 37-35. The game then settled into seesaw affair before Norwich pulled away.

Both teams now move on to their sectional tournaments -- U-E in Class AA, Norwich in Class B.
