VESTAL (WBNG BINGHAMTON) The Norwich boy's basketball team lost its first game in a year -- to the same team, in the same round of the Class B state playoffs.

The Purple Tornado fell 56-53 in overtime, losing to top-ranked Westhill. Westhill bounced Norwich from the regional finals in 2013, as well.

"Our program is about more than basketball, it's about life lessons," said head coach Tom Collier. "Sometimes things don't go your way. You've got to pick it up from there and move on with your life."

"Unfortunately, for our seniors, they'll remember they had a great senior year. This game will stick with them, but you know what? It's going to make better people out of them, and that's all that matters."
