(WBNG Binghamton) The sale of the Oneonta Outlaws to Gary Laing has been finalized, it was announced Sunday.
According to a news release:
Laing, of Oneonta, purchased the team from Keith Rogers and Dan Scaring who brought their team from Saratoga to Oneonta in 2010, following the Oneonta Tigers departure for Connecticut.
The Outlaws will be rejoining the New York Collegiate Baseball League in 2013.
“We’re excited to be back in the NYCBL,” said Steve Pindar, Outlaws President of Operations. “Their affiliation with MLB is very important to us.”
The new Oneonta Outlaws will feature local ownership in Laing, local management in Pindar and local coaching as well. Joe Hughes, “Mr. Baseball” of Oneonta has been named the Outlaws manager for 2013.
“We are thrilled to have Joe onboard with us”, said Laing.
“We’re looking forward to many, many years of great baseball and family fun at Damaschke Field with our wonderful fans,” added Laing.
