Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Not to be outdone, the Binghamton Patriots won their 3rd consecutive STAC title.

But it was a little more difficult than they imagined.

The Patriots overcame a 12 point deficit in the 4th quarter to stun Oneonta 51-50 to capture the title.

The girls got together in the huddle at the start of the quarter and said they were not going to lose.

Alexis Esworthy hit a 3 point shot with under 15 seconds left to give the Patriots the 1 point win and their 3rd consecutive crown.

"It means a lot because Binghamton, you know, sometimes we don't have the best reputation because of things that have happened here but Binghamton sports have been really coming together the last couple of years so we're really proud of our teams and we want to keep going," she says.

"We had a lot of close games last year. I know we haven't had a ton this year but we know how to win and I think that the composure the kids showed in the last couple of minutes, you know, like you said, they didn't panic, they did a good job and I think that's only going to help," says head coach Kristin Lemon.

The undefeated Patriots have a first round bye in the Class AA sectional playoffs.

They'll play the winner of Corning/Vestal first round matchup next Saturday at 7 pm at Binghamton high school.
