Reed named Player of the Week after back-to-back 30 point performances
Vestal, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Binghamton University sophomore men's basketball player Jordan Reed was named America East Player of the Week for the fourth time this season on Monday. Reed scored 33 points in an overtime loss on Thursday in Hartford, and followed it up with another 30-point performance against Vermont on Sunday. He's the first America East player to record back-to-back 30-point games since Vermont's Taylor Coppenrath in 2005. Reed also averaged 13.5 rebounds per game in the Bearcats two contests this week. After Sunday's overtime loss to Vermont, coach Tommy Dempsey spoke about how impressive Reed has been. "I hope people realize how good Jordan Reed is right now, and how good he's playing. I know the league votes are coming out and I'm worried he's not going to end up on the first team," said Dempsey after Sunday's game. "Let's be honest, there's not a guy in the league that is a better player than Jordan Reed right now. What he's been able to do late in the season, and how we've been able to grow as a team through his growth. No one is playing better." Reed ranks second in the America East in scoring, and first in rebounding. The sixth seeded Bearcats open up the conference tournament against third seed Hartford on Saturday in Albany.
