Deposit, NY (WBNG Binghamton)
Yesterday we profiled the new AA power in section 4, as Corning West and Corning East combine this season.
But they are not alone.
At the class "D" level another pair of bitter rivals prepare to play as 1 this coming season.
They used to play every season for the bell, now Hancock and Deposit will join forces, but still stay at the class "D" level.
The merger needed to happen to field any team this year, so both sides are doing their best to put the rivalry behind them.
Tight end Eric Hicks says, " It's pretty exciting. I think each team actually pushes each other. We want to be better, so I think it's all going to work."
Lineman Blake Butler says, " We all have to forget that we were rivals and just come together and be one. Not worry about what happened in the past. You know the 2 towns there may have been fighting here or there. We just all have to come together and I think we'll be fine."
Terry Raymond, the former Deposit coach who then was AD at Hancock, takes over as the new coach of the combined forces.
