Deposit, NY (WBNG Binghamton) There's a saying that winning cures everything. Apparently it doesn't work for insomnia.

"I haven't been able to sleep probably the past two or three weeks about it, actually," said Megan Faulkner.

"Every week, we have another big game and I can't sleep," said Deposit sophomore pitcher Kassi Cook. "It's rough."

That's not the only thing that's been rough. Deposit has been rough on opponents, piling up 25 runs in the last two games. Now the Lady Jacks stand two wins away from a Class D championship.

"I want to win that championship game," said Shelby Pettersen, a senior. "I want to end the season with a win."

Pettersen and the rest of the team know the opposite feeling. In 2012, Deposit went to the state title game, and lost 1-0.

"They have talked this week about the experience," said coach Ed Swartwout. "So they do remember it."

"It was hard to see all the other girls -- who worked so hard to get to that point -- just to see the other girls' hearts break," said Faulkner. "It was a great game, it just didn't turn out the right way."

"It was a good game, we played hard," said Kylie Papagelos, the Lady Jacks junior shortstop. "It really makes you hungry to come back and play and win."

Sometimes, having something to play for isn't enough. For the Lady Jacks, it's more than just redemption.

"We talk about playing softball for our school, for our community, for our parents," said Swartwout. "We think there's an element of responsibility to everybody that helps us."

"You can feel it, and everybody else on the field -- it's just something that you for the whole town and your whole team because we truly deserve it," said Cook. "For our seniors, I'd like to win it for them and for everybody else."
