Syracuse, NY (WBNG Binghamton)
Usually this time of year, Jim Boeheim is picking up the golf clubs, and he still is....a tee time pushed up the start of another sports story on the campus of Syracuse University today.
Boeheim was joined by NASCAR Sprint Cup champion Tony Stewart on the basketball court.
The two exchanged jerseys before a shoot-around at the Carmelo Anthony center.
And both decided to stick to their original sports...Stewart says he rolled an ankle doing one of the Orange drills and Boeheim joked he would love to get behind the wheel ...Even if he can't drive a stick shift.
" I'd love to try and drive a race car. Right now I don't drive to the basket, I tell people how to drive to the basket. That's it. I'm surprised I made any shots."
Boeheim will be at the track at Watkins Glen next week.
He'll be the grand marshall for Saturday's Nationwide race.
The Orange hoops coach says he does watch races from time to time, and appreciates what Stewart has been able to do, specifically at Thunder road.
Tony is the defending champion in the Sprint Cup race and has dominated the Glen with five wins in the last eight races.
