Syracuse not worried about layoff before bowl game

December 20, 2013 Updated Dec 20, 2013 at 12:59 AM EDT

Syracuse, NY (WBNG Binghamton) A win in the final game of the season against Boston College was good enough to vault Syracuse into a bowl game. While the team isn't playing for a National title or heading to a BCS Bowl, it's a chance to play one more game.

Four weeks will have separated that game against BC, and next week's Texas Bowl against Minnesota.

That's time for the Orange to get plenty of extra practice, but also a lot of time away from game play. One senior leader assures us though that coach Scott Shafer will have the team ready come game time.

"It's one of those things where you kind of have to shake the rust off," said Macky MacPherson, Syracuse's senior center. "But I think coach Shafer is doing a good job with his practice schedule of getting us back into football shape, back into playing the way we need to play and get ready for a good Minnesota team."

The Orange travels down to Texas next week, leading up to next Friday's game against Minnesota at Relient Stadium in Houston. That game scheduled for 5 p.m.
