Three Spartan football players make college choices
Town of Union, NY (WBNG Binghamton) The three of them helped Maine-Endwell conquer the state football championship three years in a row. Now, Kyle Gallagher, Darnell Woolfolk and Alec Wisniewski split-up across New York to continue their football careers. All three will be staying in state for school, with Gallagher headed to Cornell, Wisniewski choosing Colgate and Woolfolk picking West Point. It was a special afternoon on Thursday for the three friends, who said this was the only way they could have declared their college decisions. "Three years with Darnell and Kyle, three state titles, what else would I want to do than sign my division one football letter with them," said Wisniewski. "It made me as happy as I possibly could be sharing this moment with them." "We've been team captains together, all the way up through little league, pee wee, baseball, football. It's a great feeling," said Woolfolk. "I honestly think we decided sophomore or junior year that we were going to do this together." Gallagher is the one staying closest to home, and he'll have some familiar faces greeting him up in Ithaca. M-E's Luis Uceta and Jake Haddock already play at Cornell. Now, Kyle joins them along with a couple of former U-E guys in head coach David Archer and assistant Shane Hurd. The coaching staff had an especially big impact on Gallagher choosing the Big Red. "You can't get better people than them. They're both great coaches, both on and off the field, and most importantly they're great role models," said Gallagher. "You look up to them and you want them to coach you and look forward to it."
