Owego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) In Section IV Class B, the hurdle for nearly every team is three-time defending state champion Maine-Endwell. No team knows that better than Owego, as the Spartans ended their season in the playoffs last year.

Owego returns talent on the outside, most notably all-state wide receiver Will Gladney, but in the trenches the Indians will be a little more inexperienced.

That could lead the team to have a little different look than your normal Owego squad.

"You know, over the years we've kind of been known for power football," said head coach Steve Virkler. "We've been a little bit bigger and we've run between the tackles. I'm not sure we have that same personnel package this year. So we may try to use our athletes a little bit more than we have in the past."

"If you beat the person across from you more than he beats you, you're going to have a successful football team," said senior Joe McDonald. "So I think we will utilize our athleticism some more, we will spread the ball out more, but I think at the end of the day we're going to be a physical football team and we're going to have to go through people to beat them."

They'll find out exactly what they have Week 1 when Owego faces Hoosick Falls in the Carrier Dome.
