Endicott, NY (WBNG Binghamton) Union-Endicott officially introduced Thomas Baleno II as its new head football coach Tuesday afternoon at the high school. It makes Baleno the fifth head coach in the school's history.

Baleno takes over for Shane Hurd, who left the program earlier this year to take a job coaching the Cornell University football team. However, Baleno is familiar with the U-E program.

Since 2006 he has served as the team's defensive coordinator, and Baleno also played for the Tigers while in high school. He's excited to continue the tradition of Union-Endicott football.

"Being a part of the football program is something truly special," Baleno said Tuesday. "There's been really great men involved with this program, either as coaches, players, managers and volunteers. I'm truly honored to be asked to lead this football program."

He takes over a team that has plenty of talent returning from a state semifinal run a year ago.
