(WBNG Binghamton) Walton head football coach Jim Hoover is in the running to be named the best high school coach in the country.

Hoover is among 8 coaches in New York to earn the nomination.

In 38 years as head of the Warriors, Hoover has a 294-75-1 record and has won 14 sectional titles.

He also has won two state titles.

Voting will take place for a winner from each state.

That winner will then go on to a regional vote and then finally a national vote.

Voting for the state winner ends October 8th.
