It's not clear if her Top Honors t-shirt was the result of her success in the class or on the track.
Because it really could be either.
Andrea Hlebica carries a 102 average and is one of the top 8 runners in class "B".
But it's not just about her.
Andrea says, " This year it's more team oriented. I want to push for the team, more than my individual. "
While she remains one of the top runners in section 4, she's not the best on her team.
That's fine by Andrea, who cheers on her teammate, co-captain and fellow senior Paige Mullins.
" We've been friends since kindergarten. She's the reason I joined. When I joined there weren't enough for a full team. You need 5 and I was the fifth. So that's why I joined. I love practicing because they're all friends. "
Coach Pete Tylenda adds, " Andrea is a team athlete. It doesn't bother her. I think she's just happy to be on a team this good and she's just a tremendous asset to the squad. "
She takes a course load filled with the toughest her school has to offer, and no doubt is a leader by example, just as she is on the cross country track.
Andrea Hlebica stands out, even if she doesn't always try to.
That's what makes her this week's academic all star.
