IT'S HARD TO TELL LINDSEY AND LAUREN NORBERG APART. AFTER ALL, THEY'RE IDENTICAL TWINS. THEY HAVE NEARLY THE SAME EXACT ACADEMIC SCHEDULES AND SPEND ANOTHER THREE TOGETHER AT SWIM PRACTICE. BUT DON'T THINK FOR EVEN A SECOND THEY EVER GET TIRED OF EACH OTHER.
Lauren says, "When I'm away, I miss her and when she's away, it's different. We sleep in the same room so we're close."
SO CLOSE, THAT OF ALL THE EVENTS TO SPECIALIZE IN WHILE SWIMMING, LINDSEY AND LAUREN BOTH DOMINATE THE BREAST STROKE.
Lindsey says, "It just kind of worked out that way. We both happen to be good at the same thing so we just compete with each other."
"She's beaten me for a while and then just recently I started beating her. It's a good competition. It makes me push myself harder."
THEY BOTH SWEAR THE SISTERLY COMPETITION IS ALWAYS FRIENDLY AND NO MATTER HOW HARD YOU TRY, THEY WON'T SAY WHO'S FASTER. FORTUNATELY FOR THE LITTLE RED SWIM TEAM, THEY'RE BOTH REALLY FAST.
"I've broken the state record a few times. I've been part of relays that have broken state records and I've placed fairly well at States but Lauren's always there behind me."
SO MAYBE LINDSEY'S JUST A TAD FASTER, BUT BOTH PLAN ON CONTINUING THEIR SWIM CAREERS TOGETHER. THEY'LL DEFINITELY GO TO THE SAME COLLEGE, BE ROOMMATES, AND THIS SUMMER, THEY'RE EVEN COMPETING AT THE OLYMPIC TRIALS TOGETHER.
"This year we're going more for the experience than actually trying to make the team because it's kind of a longshot but it'll be a great experience."
AND AS ALWAYS, LINDSEY AND LAUREN WILL BE RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER ALL THE WAY. IN ITHACA, JUSTIN HOROWITZ, ACTION SPORTS.
