"I don't make a big deal out of it. I just kind of expect it out of myself."
Maybe she's always expected big things for herself, but it's hard not to be amazed by all that Tioga senior Jesse Robinson has accomplished. The three-sport athlete holds just about every school record in her respective sports including on the hardwood where she became the first Tiger to score a thousand points in her career.
"The first game this year I was five points away and I scored a thousand points and became the leading scorer at Tioga so I guess that was an accomplishment."
It's also worth mentioning Jesse's a four-time all-conference selection and twice has been named to the All-Metro squad. And she manages to do it all with a 96 average. But perhaps best of all has been her biggest fan has had a front row seat to watch it all for the past two seasons. Jesse's dad is also the Tigers' head coach.
"You always hope that your children can achieve certain goals and Jesse's really surpassed everything I thought she would do."
"Either way he would be my coach anyway but it's just nice to have him there because he's like, then he's really my coach, but he's always there to teach me something every day."
Jesse's not sure where she'll play basketball in college, but she's sure she wants to study speech pathology.
"Last year my mom had a stroke and it affected the way she could speak and stuff. She had trouble talking and everything and it was really interesting when I went to her meetings and stuff with the speech pathologist how they helped her gain back her knowledge that she once had."
The future looks bright for Jesse thanks to her chart-topping success in the classroom and on the court. That's why she's this week's Academic All Star. In Tioga Center, Justin Horowitz, Action Sports.
