Coach Chris Sinicki says, " Joe can do whatever he sets his mind to. Whether its in the classroom academically or athletically. He has a lot of ability, everything comes real easy to Joe,yet he works extremely hard to play at the next level"
Max effort is a key to coach Sinicki's basketball strategy. Which is what makes Joe Martin such a great fit in green and white.
Martin says, " We're really looking forward to a great season and we'll keep riding the upwave to the top. We're just trying to give maximum effort every day, and hopefully that maximum effort will be what it takes to do what we need to do. "
He puts in that same type effort in the class, although he admits math seems to come easier, which can only help down the line.
" My father's an engineer, so that's an opportunity I can really look into. Math really coincides with the engineering. "
and giving it his all in practice has only made things easier come game time.
" He can play on the big stage, he enjoys it. I don't think he's in awe or it overwhelms him at all. I think that's because he's focused, confident in his abilities and because he's prepared by the way he works hard. I don't think there's anything that overwhelms him when he gets on the field or on the court."
He does it all, on the field and in the class.
Which is why Joe Martin has hustled his way into earning this week's academic all star.
