She says the most fun she has is on game day.
But that fun comes with her game face on.
" She is very serious. You know she likes to have a good time, but when the heat's on, she comes to play and takes it very seriously. I don't think I'm too serious. I like to make sure that I stay focused with my schoolwork and with my team. But I don't want to be so strict all the time."
Being serious also helps Erin in the classroom, where she works hard to keep up a 92 average while working all year long in 3 different sports.
" During game day gets pretty hectic with getting homework done them, make sure I get done what I can in study hall and do what I can when I get home."
When she's on the field, Erin takes an academic approach to things, working to someday be a teacher and a coach.
" My team voted me as a captain. So I think I speak on the field and they look up to me. I just make sure I am respectful on the field, and they follow.
She is a great leader. So I see her as a tremendous coach. She is a great role model. Her actions speak for her. So I can see her being a great coach."
High school can be serious business, but Erin Smith keeps a straight face while having a great time.
It's why she's this week's academic all star.
