Like many previous winners of this award, Seth Mohney was an obvious choice to be a captain of his team.

Coach Dave Tidick says, " He's been a 3-year starter and he's been a great leader to show guys what to do in the classroom"

But this captain has his eyes on a degree in political science, so when it was needed, Seth Mohney stepped in as a uniter, not a divider.

Seth says, " We started out and honestly did not have the best chemistry. We had little cliques on our team. I think we're really coming together now.
I think it was all of us working together and just realizing we wanted to make the most of high school and have it something we could be proud of."

He's worked hard to keep his average in the high 90's and will graduate as his class' salutatorian.
And it's the attention to detail in the books that has made him a better player in the field.

"It is always about paying attention to detail."
He says his greatest asset on the field is his speed, and he's a quick study in class, making Seth Mohney this week's academic all star.
