Otego, NY (WBNG Binghamton) "Hola, me llamo es Cody Komenda, yo Academic All Star de Deportes de Unatego."

As you can tell, Cody Komenda is a man of many talents.

Not only is he the captain of the football and basketball teams, he's vice president of student council and he's in the Spanish Club.

"You just pretty much learn about the culture and have fun with other students who are willing to learn and stuff," says Cody. "You go on various trips."

Cody's studied Spanish since eighth grade.

His skills were put to the ultimate test last year when the Spanish Club went to New York City.

"We went and saw a Spanish play," says Cody. "Just learning about the culture and it was all in Spanish so you had to comprehend a little bit of it so that taught a little bit about what we learned in school."

As for sports, Cody played quarterback on the football team and is the basketball team's starting shooting guard.

He says winning is great, but learning from the games is even better.

"It helps you learn about life too sports," says Cody. "There's a lot of difficulties that come up in life and sports just teaches you how to deal with certain things, it's nice."

And when all else fails, Cody has a special talent not too many people know about.

"I like to sing," says Cody. "I mean, I'm not very good at all, but I like to belt out a few notes here and there."

"I've heard him from time to time, you know, he can sing, he's got some vocals," says teammate Will May.

"You think he should try out for Idol or anything like that?"

"You know, I think he could make it through the first round."

He can sing, he can speak another language and he's a pretty darn good athlete.

What more could you want?

That's why Cody Komenda is this week's Academic All Star.
