By Saturday the final section 4 champ will be crowned in the winter season.
Today we crown our final academic all star.
Whether he's in the pool or in the class, Chenango Valley senior Adam Thorne not only raises the bar, but he's out to top it every day.
Gabe Osterhout has this week's Mirabito academic all star.

"I was bored in the winter in middle school so I decided to go out for swimming and here I am."
Chenango Valley Senior Adam Thorne was one of the main anchors for this year's boys varsity swimming team.
His main event is the butterfly.
And he's improved drastically in that event since he started as an 8th grader.
Adam says, "1:08 in the butterfly...I mean its not Earth shattering but from where I was, to where I am now, is a definitely significant decrease in time."
Coaches say he's a great leader of the team, both vocally and by example.
Several times he's been counted on to swim a different event, for the benefit of the team.
Coach Charles Frayer says, "He's our number 4 point getter on the team. He moves around to different events. If we have a meet, where we need to put him in this event, he'll swim if for us and usually gets in the top 3 of the event."

He's not just a top notch swimmer, he's also ranked 3 in his class academically.
He's a member of national honor society, and the political science/debate club.
That'll help him at LeMoyne next year, where he'll major in political science.
Thorne says he's not sure if he'll swim in college.

If not, it'll be a change from the past 5 years.

"It'll definitely be interesting come the winter time, not doing anything."

Thorne will graduate from Chenango Valley in June, leaving his mark in both the pool and the classroom.
And that's why he's this week's Mirabito Academic All-Star.
